To stop this cycle from continuously repeating, now is the time to take control. This month and next month, I’ll be sharing tips on how you can ignite your sex drive — no matter how chaotic your life is!
Get a wellness check-up
Has your sex drive been suffering for years? Or have you suddenly lost interest in sex? If either scenario applies to you, book a wellness check-up ASAP. Your doctor can check on the essentials that may be affecting you, including:
- Hormone levels. When estrogen and progesterone levels start to dip, your sex drive can take a plunge!
- B12 vitamins (which contributes to your energy levels).
- Your SSRI intake. Anxiety and depression medications have a reputation for reducing one’s sex drive.
- Your diet. A nutrient dense diet will increase blood flow, which can ultimately boost your sex drive. Specifically, it is best to stay away from processed foods — especially sugar.
Kiss your partner like you mean it!
Kissing is a great way to initiate hot and steamy play. With just one intense and passionate kiss, who knows where the mood will take you and your partner!
Strive to give your partner more deep and longing kisses. Why? Kissing is one of the most important components of a long and healthy romantic and sexual relationship.

Not sure where to start? Here are some tips to deliver a kiss that will take your partner by surprise — in the best way possible!:
- Apply a small amount of non-sticky lip balm. This softens the lips and creates an irresistible pout.
- Be mindful of your breath, since bad breath can be a major turn-off. Brush your teeth, floss, and use mouthwash.
- Set the mood by creating a soft, dimly lit atmosphere. Play your favorite slow and sexy music.
- Sensually look into your partner’s eyes. Then, focus on their mouth while slowly teasing with your supple lips!
Plan date nights again
This tip is especially helpful for those who’ve been married for years. Plan weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly date nights to your favorite spots around town. Go to the movies, a wine bar, or the new restaurant that just opened up. Heat things up even more by pretending as if you’ve never met each other before!
Can’t go out for the evening? Here is how to plan a sexy date night at home:
- Pretend to meet up at a bar. Allow your partner to slip you their hotel room key. Throw yourself fully into this fantasy to bring back those butterflies you had when you first met!
- Once you’ve made it to the “hotel room” (which can be your living room, bedroom, or anywhere else in your home), explore your bodies by creating a sexual blueprint. Pay attention to your body’s erogenous zones. These are the areas that, when stimulated, will produce a heightened sensation. Our response to erogenous area stimulation can be as unique as a fingerprint. Creating a “blueprint” will allow you to tap into an even deeper sexual connection.
Women: Keep track of your cycle
Having a handle on your menstrual cycle can give you the confidence boost you need to feel your best. Doing this can also help you better understand at what times in your cycle you are most turned on.
Instead of manually tracking everything, use one of today’s top period tracking apps — including Glow, Flo, and Clue. Each of these apps features fertility tracking, symptom data and tracking, message boards, and blog posts that provide helpful advice.
- No matter the stage of life you are in, keeping a record of your hormonal cycles will allow you to take advantage of when your libido is at its peak.
- It will also give you a heads up on what days you’ll likely not be in the mood for sex — which is super helpful when planning weekend trips and date nights!
