This month, to go along with her Valentine’s tribute to Healthy Hearts, she gives us extra love with a healthy take on dessert! Cinnamon Baked Apples!

Normally, baked apples are drenched in butter and sugar. But, Dr. Z’s recipe is still full of flavor without all that added fat and sugar! Apples are full of health benefits. Within one sweet package you get fiber, antioxidants and lots of vitamins! It’s also nice that apples are available in grocery stores year round.

Cinnamon has been used since ancient civilizations for it’s heart-healthy properties. Today, we know from science how good it is! Cinnamon has been shown to help your heart AND regulate your blood sugar. Plus, 1 teaspoon contains the same amount of antioxidants as half a cup of blueberries.
