When used right, website bookmarks can help you work more efficiently. They can also keep all of your relevant links in one place. That said, many people aren’t utilizing this feature correctly to receive the maximum benefit.
Here are six tips to help you manage your website bookmarks:
1. Declutter Your Bookmarks
When was the last time you went through your bookmarks and deleted those you no longer need? Most people never do this — leaving the bookmarks cluttered and unusable.
Delete any duplicates or links that are no longer relevant. If you want to keep a bookmark, check that the link still works and update it if necessary.
2. Bookmark Pages You Use Regularly
Your bookmarks should include links you use or reference regularly. Once you’ve decluttered, review what’s left to figure out if there are any websites you need to add to the list.
3. Use Apps to Create Reading Lists for Later
Many people use bookmarks to keep track of articles and blog posts they want to read at a later date. Instead of bookmarks, why not use an app — such as Pocket — to create a reading list?
Keeping your reading list separate improves efficiency and makes sure the articles you want to read don’t get lost in a sea of bookmarks.
4. Make Use of the Bookmarks Bar
Use the bookmarks bar to ensure websites you use daily are easily accessible at the click of your mouse.
5. Create Folders to Organize Your Bookmarks
Do you often realize that you can never find the right bookmark when you need it? An unorganized list defeats the point of bookmarking. Use folders to make sure you can find what you need when you need it, grouping similar websites together (e.g. finances, stock photos, etc.).
6. Review Regularly
Organizing your bookmarks isn’t a one-time thing. Make sure you return to this process a couple of times per year to stay on top of your bookmarks so they work for you.

A Pocket Full of Awesome
Time is money. Knowledge is power. These idioms have never resonated more than in the information age we are currently in. We are constantly bombarded by content — publicly and privately sourced, global and local — and we are always searching for more. Whether it is to research for school or work, to learn, or to inform, the ability to compile and organize articles or pages of interest can save time and make the information accessible whenever you need it (or finally have the time to properly read and digest it).
You can keep it organized, easy-to-find, and right at your fingertips with the Pocket app — a user-friendly curation tool for online material. Pocket lets you compile information your way so you can spend more time enjoying what you’ve saved, and less time looking through them all over again.
Better Than Bookmarking
How many times have you bookmarked something for later, only to find out that all you have done is put it in a sea of disembodied links…and that it requires wasting time you didn’t want to spend? With Pocket, you can organize posts, webpages, articles, blogs, and more into distinct, organized “pockets” so that you can locate what you’ve added in a matter of moments.
Even more conveniently, you can add tags so that you can easily search for particular pieces, making it super easy to refer back to the resources you have gathered. Pocket makes it easy to organize by topic, source, or any category you want. You can even customize your display to make it easier for your eye.
Anywhere, Anytime
The Pocket app allows you to organize — and review — whatever content you have saved anywhere, whenever you feel like it. You can flag practically anything — videos, articles, stories, recipes — from new channels and publications (such as The New York Times, BBC News, and The Washington Post), web searches, subscriptions, and even social media platforms like Twitter and YouTube. You can look through your Pocket on your mobile phone, tablet, or computer — and even make materials available offline.
The Pocket app can be downloaded for FREE onto any mobile device from the App Store and Google Play. It is also accessible on your computer or laptop through browser extensions for Chrome, Firefox, or Safari. Learn more about Pocket at getpocket.com today!
