Stay Hydrated This Winter + Puppy Paw Print Ornament DIY

The last thing you want to think about this winter season is dehydration and dry skin. After all, you’ve got a lot on your plate already.

But beware of the blistering chills of winter, as it can stealthily suck the moisture out of you!

Being dehydrated isn’t as obvious as we’ve been led to believe. You can be dehydrated and not feel thirsty. You also won’t notice the droplets of sweat that regularly leave your body.

No matter the season — but especially in winter — drinking water is essential. It should be added to the top of your health priority list — primarily because it helps your body function efficiently.

Need further convincing? Here are the top reasons I always recommend increasing your water intake during the year’s coldest months.

Elevates Immune System

A drop in temperature may cause your body to feel tired and weary, making you more vulnerable to certain illnesses — such as the flu and common cold. Water delivers a boost to your immune system, primarily because it carries out oxygen — which is essential for your body’s system to operate. It also allows waste products to be cleared more effectively.

Weight Regulator

The blistering cold can affect your body’s activeness, and we sometimes opt to sit down and eat more. If you are not drinking enough water, your body will hold on to the remaining fluids, which can contribute to weight gain and puffiness.

A proper intake of fluids can flush out the excess water, and help break down fats and transform them into energy. This is helpful especially when we feel worn out. Use that energy to move and groove around the house!

Warming Up!

Drinking sufficient amounts of water can help regulate your core temperature. If you feel chilly, water is your best friend! Go with warmer water if cold is too much for you.

As the temperature drops, we want to mitigate any health problems that can arise during this season. After all, winter is a time for us to feel the warmth and love of our friends, family, co-workers, and neighbors too!

Stay safe and healthy everyone!
