My Mind-Soul coaching clients often reach out to me because they feel disconnected from a healthy mindset and spiritual center. Day-to-day life, with the demands of work, family, and the barrage of societal noise can make anyone lose touch with total Self wellness. Re-discovering the Body-Mind-Soul connection doesn’t require a lot of time or a huge change to your lifestyle. Here are some simple practices that will give you a great start.

Our Top 5 Tips for Peaceful Living
1. Don’t pick up your phone first thing in the morning.
What we do in the first 15 minutes of our day programs our brains, our bodies, and our Souls for the day ahead.
If you automatically pick up your phone as soon as your eyes open in the morning, your programming begins with outside influences. The notifications that pop up on your lock screen set you into reactionary mode, and that is likely where you will stay for the rest of the day. This can cause stress, anxiety and the physical repercussions of living with those mental states long-term.
Instead of checking your phone, allow yourself two minutes to stretch your body, breathe deeply, and pay attention to how you feel as you are waking up. Allow your mind to catch up with your waking body.
Bring to mind things that you are grateful for – a comfortable bed, a loved one sleeping nearby, events coming up that you anticipate with pleasure. No need to pull out a journal. Just allow yourself to hear your own inventory of gratitude as you get up to start your day.
2. Be mindful about what you listen and watch – and when.
What you listen to in the morning is as important as taking those moments of body connection and gratitude.
When you do pick up your phone, open the podcast app or your audiobook platform instead of tapping into morning DJs or dipping into the habit of social media scrolling while you get ready for your day. Choosing to listen to an inspirational teacher or an uplifting audiobook will allow you to infuse yourself with positivity while you brush your teeth. Listening to another human speak in encouraging terms will also set you up for a calmer, more confident mindset and will prepare you for more positive interactions throughout your day.
If you have a daily commute, trade out listening to humans talking for your favorite music playlist. Listening to music that makes you happy on the way home will transition your mind from work mode, allowing you to let go of worries from the day and to relax into your evening at home.

3. Discover your Core Desired Feelings.
When we begin to work together, my clients can often tell me exactly how they don’t want to feel, but don’t have a clue about how to describe the positive feelings that are at the heart of true transformation. By discovering 4-5 feelings that encapsulate how you would feel in your ideal life and then using those feelings as guideposts, you can make significant changes to your life on every level.

4. Create a sacred spot in your home and visit it often.
If you have a tree in your yard that you love, experience a deep sense of serenity on your sun porch, or build an elaborate altar with crystals, candles and written prayers, having a space where you can go to think, meditate or pray will bring you closer to yourself and to the Creation energy as you understand it.
Should you choose to create an altar, place it somewhere that you will see it often. Keep a candle or some incense there, as well as slips of paper to write down your goals. By taking the time to light a tea light and speaking what you hope to manifest or change, you send energy out with your intentional attention.
5. Move your body in a pleasurable way.
Rather than choosing workouts that feel like a chore to be checked off your to-do list, try moving your body in ways that bring you pleasure. Are you a runner who loves the feel of your feet meeting the ground and the chance to unplug from anything but the way you’re moving your body? That’s great! For those who may see that treadmill or putting on running shoes with dread, ask your body and your Soul how they want to move. Yoga? Dance? Martial arts? The only “wrong” way to do this is by forcing yourself to endure a practice that you don’t love.
6. Write down your gratitude list just before bed.
I can almost see your collective eye roll, dear readers. This isn’t a new concept, but it’s an effective one. Spiritual guides Abraham-Hicks teach that making a list of things that you appreciate before sleep will raise your energetic vibration, allowing for a more restful sleep.
That higher energy will be sustained throughout the night, and it will be the energy to which you wake. Wouldn’t you rather start the day with a greater sense of alignment, instead of groaning and wishing the week away?
