AUTOPILOT AND YOUR WAY OUT!

2020 has been like a never-ending game of Jumanji. With its ups and downs and twist and turns. It’s like an overdone plot of a TV Series that just won’t end. Exercise

And everybody is JUST PLAIN TIRED.

If you are reading this in your five-day old pajamas, with faded make up and matted bun and the only thing keeping you alive is the large cup of coffee. I feel ya girl!!!!

Life has been rough. And we have all been looking on the bright side and seeing the silver lining but that doesn’t mean that all that is going on in the world doesn’t take a toll. Because it does.

And honestly a lot of us need a release. We need to find an outlet to release stress, change up our routine, reset and get grounded in who we are.

Exercise can be a great part of that release and an outlet for negative energy. Getting active helps release endorphins and reduce stress. And we can all use a little bit of that.

But it can be more than just that. Anyone can pump iron or run on a treadmill but really getting your all out of your workout all boils down to one little thing: your intentions.

Yep!!! It is the new thing right. We spend most of our day in autopilot. Just going through the motion and we wonder why we feel so run down???

Autopilot and the monotony of life can leave you feeling “stuck” and a sense of hopeless or even frustration and anxiety.

Those feelings can be overwhelming and even draining at times.  And girl you need to release from that!!!!

The best way to get unstuck and get back into your own body is physical exercise. To wake up get out of your head, is throw on some headphones and jump into a workout that suits you.

But that stuck feeling won’t disappear just like that.

Before you hit the gym, you need to take a few minutes and think about the intention of your workout.

When you set an intention, it gives your mind focus.  Which increases the likelihood of getting out of that stuck feeling and releasing negative energy. Like the other day, I just had one of the worst days, like at any moment I just might have a full-blown meltdown in public. I was head to the gym in like the worst mood.

Everything little thing was making me angry. I walked in the door, mumbled something under my breath and shoved my stuff in a locker and started to warm up. While I was warming up I just closed my eyes for a moment and said by the end of this workout I am going to be in a better mood.

So, any frustrations I had needed to leave my body.

So, I took all the negative energy and focused it into lifting and pushing myself  a little harder than normal. By the end, my mood had lifted, literally I had released all that energy into something productive.  I also got out of my had a focused on the moment hand. There is nothing like being intentionally in the present to ground you.

Setting intentions does not just have to be for when you are in a bad mood. It could be something as simple as getting out of autopilot. Yoga is great practice and exercise for that type of intention and release,  because you have to focus on so many things that  to really practice you have to be in control.

Intention brings concentration which also brings more focus which can always bring you closer to your goals.

By having crystal clear intentions, you become more aware of your body in space and how the muscles work to perform exercise. This awareness can help you build strong muscles, maintain breathing and prevent injuries.  Which can ground you when you are spinning in your head.

And don’t over complicate it. You can literally be sitting in your car before you hit the weights and set them. It could be something as simple as working on form or breathing to working through your stress or frustration.

To stay focused, I wear headphones. It keeps me in the zone and focused on what I am doing. Working out solo also helps me but if working out with a partner works better for you, do that!!!

Exercise is super important especially in times like these when the days seem to bleed together. So be sure to get out of autopilot and start driving your own vehicle.
