BE VIBRANT: TIPS FOR STAYING HEALTHY THIS WINTER

Stay healthy this winter

Change is constant and so are the seasons. But, the onset of winter is not a reason to let go of your vibrant health! It’s easy with a few simple tips for staying healthy this winter!

The ever-changing seasons is Mother Nature’s way of keeping the earth’s rhythm in balance! In this current season, we are now facing the brisk air of winter and it’s time to start changing our wardrobe choices, daily or weekly activities, and health & diet.

Here are some of my top tips for staying healthy winter season!

PURCHASE FOODS IN SEASON

A shift in season means a new set of lovely veggies and fruits! Revel in the foods that winter has to offer such as pears, apples, figs, cranberries, pumpkins, yams, and parsnips!

Create a seasonal dish ideal for the moment from luscious pumpkin soup to delectable caramelized pears and sensational apple muffins. Try our own PLW contributor, Lisa Bayorek’s gluten free green bean casserole for one of your holiday staples!

WINTER FOODS FOR BETTER HEALTH

The foods that are available in this season have colors that are warm, earthy, deep, and vibrant and this signifies they are good for your health especially for your immune system. The bright colored fruits and vegetables are rich in vitamin c, lycopene, potassium, and beta-carotene and they support our bodies in diverse ways from our bones to our eyes.

How TOXIC are you?

ENHANCE YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM

Of course you could take a vitamin c or vitamin d supplement but I always encourage consumption of the foods brought to us by Mother Nature. Eat bright colored vegetables and fruits which are available throughout the season and be sure to keep up with your hydration by drinking plenty of water.

THE ART OF TENDER MOVEMENTS

You can involve yourself with exercise and physical activity to keep your body strong and active!

Just because this season can feel cold this doesn’t mean you have to stop participating in physical activities. Never neglect the simplicity of brisk walking, jumping jacks, and even dancing in your living room!

If you want to intensify your activity, try enrolling in a dance class or yoga. To add to the fun, you will meet like-minded people with whom to socialize and have fun.

SAVOR THE SEASON AND CREATE ALIGNMENT

Permit yourself to live in this season by making a couple of changes in your lifestyle.

Take care of yourself and don’t forget to upgrade your daily skincare routine. Take a free day to  drink a relaxing cup of herbal tea, cover yourself with a comfortable wool blanket while binge-watching your favorite show.

Winter is a time to reflect, slow down and nurture ourselves both externally and internally

Cheers to staying healthy and vibrant this winter!
