It’s Cancer season, the element of Cardinal Water . It represents the beginning of Summer. We start with the seasons: Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter. Then we incorporate the four elements: Fire , Earth , Air , and Water , and begin to see how they influence those four seasons. Yet another piece to the puzzle are the three modes: Cardinal, Fixed, and Mutable.
I recommend that you read my blog on the Fixed Earth Element for a better understanding of these terms and their meanings. This pattern is never ending, allowing the elements to flow from one into the other, just like the cycle of the seasons. Each Trip Around the Sun unveils a new layer of ourselves and over time, you will begin to understand how all of the pieces work together and how they all relate to you…
At the present moment we are in Cancer , the element of Cardinal Water , occurring between June 20th and July 22nd. This season begins with the Summer Solstice, which is the time of year when we experience an equal balance between both light and dark. Our days and nights are now in perfect harmony with one another. This is the time of year that represents the beginning of our Summer season and our Cardinal mode…bringing with it a surge of new ideas and emotions…

Our Top 5 Tips for Peaceful Living
There is so much to be discovered when you begin to connect the dots between Nature and its effects on the human body. In both religious and spiritual practices, the element of Water represents life. It is what connects every living thing on our planet. Without it, we would not survive. Symbolically, Water embodies our emotions, our home, and the way that we nurture ourselves. Little did I know that my upbringing would serve as my foundation to these teachings.

My childhood home was busy, as an empathic middle child in a huge family, my wants and needs were not at the top of the priority list. If I wanted alone time, I had to find it. We grew up in a four bedroom house with one bathroom for 8 (eight) people, 6 (six) of which were female. I am sure you could guess that I wasn’t taking long hot showers or soaking in luxurious bubble filled baths. Despite the fact that I was surrounded by women, I was raised primarily by a man. Obviously self-care wasn’t a daily topic of conversation in our busy household; however, I have learned, over time, to make it a priority in my life.
Fortunately for me, self-expression was not taboo in my childhood home, although our society frowns upon it. Think about when you’re in public and for whatever reason tears begin to well up in your eyes, our first instinct is to run and hide, or wipe them away in shame. We are taught that this is a sign of vulnerability and nobody likes to appear vulnerable. From a very young age I realized that I was full of emotions, and crying was my go-to way of expressing them. Even while writing this I realize that crying is how I learned to self-soothe as a child, but back then, this is where my insight ended. What I have come to realize in my current season of life, is that once I finally did release those emotions and connect to my Cardinal Waters , I was able to see things thru clearer eyes. I had a different perspective and was able to express myself in a way that otherwise may not have presented itself.
You have already begun the igniting of your Spring Fire in Aries , establishing your values in Taurus , and thinking about your next move in Gemini . It’s the beginning of Summer and it is time to feel all the feels! The heat is on and it is time to get busy building the life that you want. The question is: What kind of life do you want? What made you stop and read this blog? You don’t need to share your deepest or darkest for these courses to be beneficial. No matter what brought you here, your secrets are safe with you….
There are times in all of our lives when we feel vulnerable, when we struggle to balance our own inner light and dark, much like the early days of Summer. By learning how to honor and take care of these emotions, you will begin to understand the influence of the Cardinal Water Element. By working with the elements, we cultivate the life that we want to live… Maybe you need a new idea? Maybe you need a new plan? Or maybe you just need to learn how to go with flow? Life is multiple trips around the sun, and working with the elements has completely changed how I travel.
