This quote stuck out to me. Why?…because it resonates with the spirit that I try to embody in my travel agency with the trips that I plan for myself and my groups. On this particular trip I found the beauty in sharing a special romantic getaway with my sweetheart for Valentine’s Day.
Taking a 7 hour road trip through Georgia to Tampa can be either stressful OR it can be amazing. The feeling and mindset that you carry is going to determine what you experience throughout your journey. And remember, this is especially important when travelling with other people! You don’t want your romantic getaway to be stressful because your mindset is off!
- Fill your mindset with the spirit of adventure!
- Remember to be flexible.
- Remember that when things don’t go according to plan, they often turn out better.
- Enjoy your romantic getaway by being in the moment with your love.
- And of course don’t forget your travel pillow for extra comfort!
FIRST STOP: BUSH GARDEN’S
The stress and mental headache of purchasing multiple tickets, knowing I had to buy expensive food, possibly wanting souvenirs, maybe a photo or two had me going crazy!! However, if you plan ahead a little you can purchase a pass and get great deals! The pass has different levels and options:
- free tickets
- Discounts
- free parking
- free photo
- discounted food!!!
I really enjoyed being able to whip out my pass. It’s super convenient that can be printed quickly at the park entrance. And, knowing that I was saving money for myself and boyfriend gave me extra peace-of-mind.
Our experience at Busch Gardens was amazing! This amusement park is unique in that it also doubles as a zoo. No matter your age, you can have up-close experiences with animals you may never have thought of before. There is something for everyone and every family at Busch Gardens.
ROMANTIC GETAWAY IN STYLE AT THE OMNI, JACKSONVILLE
We stayed at the Omni Jacksonville Hotel not only because it is romantic and stylish, but also because of it’s convenient location. Situated in downtown Jacksonville, it is right near the highway so quick commute to nearby attractions and shopping.
St. Johns Town Center, where there is an AMAZING outdoor mall, lots of dining options, and TopGolf!! is right nearby!
The Omni also offers great amenities! If you want to be lazy like us and have a nice breakfast in bed before getting out and doing some shopping or sightseeing ~ room-service is just a phone call away. For when you are feeling more energetic, they have a beautiful pool and fitness center as well as in-room “Get-Fit Kits!”
What I particularly recommend for your romantic getaways is the Luxury Romance Package.
And don’t worry, I’ve got your budget in mind too – I am the queen of the rewards membership! 🙂 The Omni rewards program got me and my boyfriend complimentary beverages of ANY KIND each day of our stay. We completely forgot about it until our last night, and received TWICE the amount of beverages we ordered. I would say it was greatly appreciated!

FOOOODDDDD!!!
Dinner the first night was amazing! We ate at Ted’s Montana Grill and I will say that it was not what I expected. I wanted to try something new, and this definitely was SOMETHING NEW! I had the Springer Mountain roasted chicken with a baked potato. It was AMAZING! The glazed cranberries on the chicken were the perfect touch. My boyfriend had the red rock with Bison, and there was not one crumb left on his plate in a matter of 10 minutes!
If you want a great buffet option…but not your traditional buffet…Terra Gaucha Brazilian Steakhouse is AMAZING!! You start with a traditional salad bar. Then, the meat options are delivered to your table – on a constant basis! You receive a card that you place at your side. It signals the staff that you would like more meat. Your meat options include, beef, pork, lamb, chicken (wrapped in bacon) or shrimp, so there is something for everyone.
I was VERY full after the first 4 rounds so I ended up just getting the shrimp every time.
TOP THE WEEKEND OFF AT THE BEACH
Trying to be cool…but it is HOT! So don’t forget your sunscreen!
If you are anything like me, no matter what the goal is, if I am traveling to a destination that has a beach….I HAVE TO GO!! And, of course, beaches are such a perfect addition for romantic getaways.

Ending a great road trip filled with fun, great food, shopping with a relaxing beach visit is the best in my book! And my sweetheart liked it too!
