Amy joined our merry band of Peaceful Living Wellness experts in the fall of 2019. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of South Carolina who works with new moms to support them through the challenges of transitioning into motherhood.
Tell us about yourself! Who are you and what is your wellness specialty?
I am Amy Jacksonn. I am a licensed professional counselor in South Carolina. I work with moms to help them adjust to life with a new baby and to realize that while being a mom is hard, it doesn’t have to suck 😉

Why did you decide to pursue this field?
When I was finishing my graduate degree, I experienced a miscarriage at 21 weeks. I did not know where to go for help to address the depression I was experiencing. I really want to be the support for moms and their families that I didn’t have.

What gets you going in the morning?
Lots of coffee! Knowing that I can make a difference in someone’s life. Whether it is a new mom who is experiencing postpartum depression, a woman who is going through infertility, or being that support for a mom who has lost a child.
What does Peaceful Living mean to you?
Noticing that we are living according to our values. We don’t choose what happens to us. We can’t control external forces. We can choose how we react to life’s situations. We can be at peace knowing that the choices we make are going to keep us aligned with our values and goals.

What is the number one thing you wish for people to know about wellness?
Life is going to be hard, but we have the ability to make it through the hard times. We can find peace, happiness and strength even when our lives seem to be in complete chaos. Feelings and thoughts are not facts.
Do you have a guilty pleasure that is maybe not so “wellness-oriented?”
Bravo, dark chocolate and red wine – all at the same time!
