While everyone is currently social-distancing we can still have small summer parties! And with 4th of July right around the corner, I want you to look your best! Here are my top beauty tips for rocking your look on the 4th and at all your summer parties. Even if the gatherings are small, you still want to look and feel great!
STEP 1: OUTFIT CHECK
When someone mentions having a barbecue or picnic the attire does not usually mean dress up. The attire is normally casual and effortless while still looking cute. Slip into your favorite pair of capri pants or pop on a brightly colored sundress for the perfect summer party look.
STEP 2: SHOE CHECK
Whatever you do, do not wear heels. When heading to outdoor events and functions wearing heels you are asking for chaos and run the risk of a twisted ankle or worse. Opt for wedges if you still want some height or a cute pair of slides.
STEP 3: PROTECT YOUR SKIN FROM SUN DAMAGE
Nothing screams aging more than sun-damaged skin. Be sure to protect your skin from the rising temperatures with a great sunscreen. Slather your skin with an SPF infused lotion and remember to reapply throughout the day in order to guarantee the best sun protection possible. And don’t forget to wear a stylish summer hat to keep the sun off! You can have fashion and protection at the same time!
STEP 4: SKIN CHECK
The sun will be humid and hot so prime and prep skin with a mattifying lotion or gel for a shine-free complexion that will hold up through a heat wave.
STEP 5: MAKEUP CHECK
Do not wear a full face of makeup. This will cause you to sweat and become super oily because of the heat, which you do not want. Skip heavy foundation in favor of tinted moisturizers which let your natural skin show through. 4th of July is the perfect excuse to whip out the red lip looks also. The key is to use a color that won’t smudge or move for the long day you have planned. Matte lipsticks are definitely a trend right now that’ll be perfect for this weekend.
Try our editor’s choice brand Au Natural Cosmetics. They are all natural, vegan and cruelty free. Their semi-matte powder foundation is perfect for the summer heat.
STEP 6: PROTECT YOUR HAIR
Give your hair a rest from heat styling and go natural. For curly or wavy girls, use pomades or gels to help define natural curls and beat the frizz. For straight haired girls, let hair air-dry and apply a sand-infused spray for texture and body.

Your hair is the last thing you’ll want getting in your way. Make sure to use a serum, dry shampoo, and hair ties to keep your hair in place. And don’t forget about your cute hats! 🙂
STEP 7: IT’S MANI-PEDI TIME
Step out of your comfort zone for the weekend and show your nails some love. Dip tips and toes in bright polish shades for that modern pop of color on a hot summer day. Some best summer nail colors are red, blue, coral, white or fuchsia. Summer parties are a time to let your nails pop!
STEP 8: CHECK YOUR FRAGRANCE
Because summer parties often start during the day, you never know where you’ll end up. To stay refreshed and smelling good all day abandon your favorite perfume and pick up a light body splash or body oil instead. The humidity and heat only amplifies the fragrance.
In spite of the current social distancing requirements, you can still have a great time at your summer parties. And, with my simple tips you will look and feel your best too! I hope that you have a wonderful summer. Let me know how these tips work for you OR if you have any questions!
