Using the Power of Taurus to Ignite Your Spring Fire

Today is the day.

So here we sit, it’s Taurus season, the element of Fixed Earth .  It represents the middle of Spring.  Now some of you may understand what this means and some of you may not, so let me explain. Most of us are familiar with the four seasons: Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter. But what about how the four elements: Fire , Earth , Air , and Water influence those four seasons?  Each element represents a pattern of energy, and how this energy chooses to express itself within the season is known as a modality.  There are three modalities: Cardinal, Fixed and Mutable that occur within each season.

Each of the seasons begins with the Cardinal mode, which represents your new thoughts and ideas. In the middle of the season we encounter the fixed mode, which corresponds with the plans that we make. Lastly, we have the mutable mode, representing your finishing touches.  No need to memorize this, you will begin to understand over time how they work together.   

You see, I am a Taurus .  If you knew me, you would know it would be easy to use these new ideas to connect me to Taurus .  Taurus occurs between April 20^th and May 20^th, which is the middle of Spring.  As we learned before, the middle of the season is influenced by the Fixed mode…a.k.a. the plans we make.  And I’m certainly a planner, so yes! She must be a Taurus! But this is merely one part of me, and contrary to popular belief, it is not a unique trait that has been bestowed solely upon me. 

Heck, it’s not even just a Taurus quality.  It is a Fixed mode quality, and all of the elements have them, and in turn, so do all of the seasons.   And just like the four seasons of the year, there are four elements in our life cycle. Each of the four elements: Fire , Earth , Air   and Water represent a different aspect of our life.  Tis the season for Earth , so for now, we’ll stick to that!

When I was a teen I used to read my horoscope often. I couldn’t wait to get my new horoscope book year after year.  Who am I kidding? I still read them. As a young adult I was a graphic designer for the local paper and responsible for the layout of the horoscopes, I thought I was the coolest. I began to understand Taurus through these daily passages.  When I was in my late 20’s I suffered from a major back injury which left me immobile.  I was full of medicine and wanting nothing more than to return to my “normal”.  What I didn’t know was that there was no fast-track way to healing.  Healing is a process, and during my process of healing I researched every way imaginable to be pain free and to get well.  My journey led me to the introduction of Fixed Earth .

We all have those moments when we can’t find the right words or, when we can’t identify the emotion. When we can’t get past the creative block or when we need a little more Nurture and Nature in our lives.  Sure, if we could, we would avoid chaos, meditate for hours on end, and only eat food grown responsibly on our land.  #dreamBIG  😉  We cannot avoid the chaos, but we can learn to work with it.  I once went to an astrologer that reminded us that the Earth was still spinning. He said we had a choice between creating resistance or embracing the movement. I heard him loud and clear. In order to work with the movement I had to learn to understand it. I began to see how everything affects us; the moon,  time of year, the time of day and the season we are going through.  As I began to grow through my learning, I could see that Nature, herself, has already provided us with all of the answers.

Life is multiple trips around the sun, and working with the elements has completely changed how I travel.  There were times in my life when I was not in balance, and it wasn’t until I acknowledged these moments in my life that I was able to move forward.  Through this I realized, at times, I was my own resistance.  So what is your plan?   Have you ever tried to work with your inner Fire ?  Have you noticed what time of day or season it is most active?  How about your Water Element ?  Can you tell when your inner waters are flowing, or when they are stagnant?
