It’s a whole Vibe…
Falling into a new season that is. How are we already entering fall?!
Welcome to the Air Element.
To help you understand, we’re talking about the four elements: Fire , Earth , Air , and Water . These classifications were designed to help with the simple explanation of the Universe’s complexity. Each of these elements is generally divided into three categories: Cardinal, Fixed, and Mutable. Just think of beginning, middle, and end. We’ve just passed the Fall Equinox, one of only two occasions throughout the year when day and night are equal. The Spring Equinox, which occurs on March 20th, is the polar opposite.

Allow me to remind you of what the weather was like at the time. Don McClean didn’t just randomly write “February made me shiver…” By the end of March we now crave sun, and plenty of it! Luckily, it’s that time of year when our days are extra-long. Preparing us for the warm summer months ahead. Unlike the Fall Equinox, which happens on September 22nd. I don’t know about you, but I’ve had my fill of the sun and am looking forward to cooler nights. Hello Balance!
The Element of Cardinal Air , also known as the beginning of the Air Element, starts at the fall equinox on September 22nd and lasts until October 22nd . This Air Element is all about creating an atmosphere around you and maintaining harmony within it. Everything we have, from the house we live in to our closest friends and family, to the very air we breathe, it’s all interconnected. Keeping in mind the balance between what we think and what we do. At this time of year, there is a distinct change in the smell of the air, bringing with it the colors of FALL. Speaking of color…
While the beginning of Fall and the Air Element are all about balance in our lives, it is important to put conscious effort into creating the right atmosphere. Adding color is an effective way to achieve that! Color has a way of evoking emotion. By adding a splash of color to your world you can literally change the way you feel! But how do you know which color to pick?
Let’s talk about color theory for a while; it’s the study of how colors work scientifically as well as creatively. Reds, oranges, and yellows—also known as warm colors—represent a dynamic, lively spirit. Colors towards the cooler end of the spectrum, including greens and blues, tend to be more soothing. Consider the four elements: Fire , Earth , Air , and Water , in terms of colors. Aside from the more aggressive, flaming energy, there are also more mellow, reflective ones. In what ways do they team up? How could they not?
When I taught in public school I had the seniors do a ceiling tile. Shhhhhhhhhh ; ). I had them run through the whole gamut. They were tasked with presenting the idea behind their creation. I heard my share of complaints, but they really came through for me. You may probably guess that there would be certain items left out. But maybe not for the reasons you assume. When discussing design, it was usually for the sake of color theory.
There is a reason why the traditional colors of Christmas—red and green—go well together, they are complimentary. More appealing to the eye. The crimson of holly berries, the white of snow, and the green of evergreens. But here’s the kicker: They are also the colors presented by mother nature this time of year. They are winter, so of course they have that wintery vibe. In the end, all I wanted was for these kids to realize is that they had the power to create something that could change the atmosphere of a room. What message are you sending?
YOU’RE A VIBE!
There’s good news if you’re also a visual learner: I am, too!
Which image of yourself do you want to present to the rest of the world? I mean, what exactly are you trying to say?
Take charge of your brand. A very wise woman once said to me, “when you see the world, the world sees you”, I felt that. Do your actions and your thoughts align? Do your insides match your outside? Do the curtains match the drapes? I couldn’t resist!
By working with Nature’s Elements, we design the life we truly desire. The Air element encourages you to create the atmosphere that you want to be surrounded with. Pay attention to the vibe that you are creating! It’s time to start designing the life you want. What exactly do you want?! You don’t have to expose your shadows in order to benefit from these life lessons, but you’re here now, so work with them!
