5 Minute Evening Meditation

Do you often find yourself in a sense of overwhelm?

Are you stressed out and over-anxious and you can’t exactly pinpoint why?

Maybe you aren’t getting enough sleep?

Maybe your diet is off?

Maybe you aren’t moving your body enough?

Maybe it’s all of the above?

We’ve all been through a crazy year living through a global pandemic. It’s time to take back control of our lives and learn a new way of dealing with stress.

I know when I am stressed out, I DO NOT sleep well. I have problems falling asleep and staying asleep. About three months ago, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I started doing evening meditations right before bed to calm my mind and my body. Each meditation is only five minutes, and primarily focuses on breathing and relaxing.

Let me tell you — I have been getting some AMAZING sleep! I fall asleep quickly and typically stay asleep most of the night, unless a child wakes up in the middle of the night.  I fell in love with the process of winding down at night and even decided to complete a 100-hour meditation certification course to share just how powerful mediation can be.

I learned all about meditation, its origin, the science, the theory, and different techniques to use. I can’t wait to start incorporating it into my yoga classes too.  I want to share a simple 5-minute relaxing/sleep meditation with you to try before going to sleep and see if it helps you unwind too.

Here are my tips for unwinding each night:

  1. Turn off all electronics 30 minutes before bedtime
  2. Wash your face and brush your teeth
  3. Change into pajamas
  4. Do 1-2 minutes of full body stretching
  5. Turn off the lights, lie in bed, start meditation

Try this 5-minute meditation tonight and see if it helps you calm your mind and body, or fall asleep and stay asleep longer.
