I love personal development books. In fact, I am a self-proclaimed personal development junkie. I make it my mission to read 2-3 books every month to grow my mindset and mental health. I started this practice a little over six years ago, and now look forward to it as a part of my morning routine. I’ve found that spending 10-15 minutes in silence each morning, growing my mindset, allows me to be more productive throughout the day.

Our Top 5 Tips for Peaceful Living
To help you in your personal development journey, I’ve compiled a list of my five favorite personal development books:
1. 12 Week Year by Brian Moran
2. The 5 Second Rule by Mel Robbins
3. The Compound Effect by Darren Hardy
4. Eat That Frog by Brian Tracy.
5. The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod
Here is a quick synopsis of each of them (as well as a video explanation):
1. 12 Week Year. This book shows you how to break down your goals into 12-week time frames. You focus on 2-3 goals at a time with a specific weekly action plan. We ditch the annualized thinking of setting big goals for the year that are never actually achieved. This book has taught me how to take control of my day, increase income, and balance priorities in my life. You’ll be impressed how quickly you are accomplishing goals you set for yourself.

2. The 5 Second Rule. If you tend to be a procrastinator, this book is for you. Mel Robbins gives you a simple, proven tool to beat your self doubt and fear once and for all. This book is all about becoming more confident, having control, conquering anxiety, and increasing productivity. If you can count to five you can change your life. 5, 4,3,2,1…. GO!!

3. The Compound Effect. This book will show you how every day decisions will take you either toward a life you desire or a life by default. Darren Hardy teaches you to take simple, everyday actions in order to accomplish the things you want in life. He gives tactical advice as well as tangible tracking mechanisms for you to jumpstart your income, your life, and your success. This is the first book I read when I started my business over 6 years ago, and I still use some of the tracking mechanisms today.

4. Eat That Frog. This book is all about the concept of doing the most important task first every single day. This gives you the satisfaction of knowing that it’s probably the worst thing you’ll do all day. The most challenging task is often the one we put off. This book shows you how to zero in on the critical tasks to organize your day, and become more productive.

5.The Miracle Morning. This book shows you how to transform your life before 8 AM. Hal Elrod shares his six practices guaranteed to save you from a life of unfulfilled potential. SAVERS, an acronym for silence, affirmations, visualization, exercise, reading, and scribing (writing) are the 6 practices you can use to unlock your true potential and take back control of your day. The author shows you how to do each practice as well as gives you a timeframe for completing them. I gift this book to my new business partners who are struggling with time management, or getting into a solid morning routine.
