INTRODUCING OUR PLW ORGANIZING EXPERT: ALEX BRZOZOWSKI OF BeOrganizing

Alex Brzozowski from BeOrganizing

Peaceful Living Wellness is not just an online magazine. It is a community of wellness professionals!  As people who are dedicated to helping others live happier, healthier lives we are excited to bring you valuable wellness information every week through our blogs and vlogs.

In our ongoing efforts to create community we are bringing our readers both print and video interviews so you can get to know our experts better!

As the creator of the Peaceful Living Wellness community and online magazine it was important to me to include organizing as one of our wellness modalities. At first glance it may not seem that organizing is a wellness topic. But for those of us who are disorganized by nature, it is at the top of the stress-management list!  Clutter is both a sign of stress and a cause of it.

When Alex Brzozowski, the founder and CEO of BeOrganizing, one of San Diego’s most popular home and office organizing companies signed-on as one of our PLW contributors I was thrilled!  She takes her readers through step-by-step processes for organizing their homes and offices both physically and digitally.  Her organizing tips and techniques are easy to follow even for the perpetually disorganized like me!

And, as a special bonus, she gives her readers helpful advice on which products to purchase for their organizing needs. Being budget-conscious Alex helps her readers save money on these products by recommending the best quality for the best price.

I am happy to introduce Alex Brzozowski one of our Peaceful Home Contributors!

Tell us about yourself! Who are you and what is your wellness specialty?

My name is Alex Brzozowski. I grew up in the Detroit area and then went to Butler University in Indianapolis. At that time, I thought I wanted to work in the legal world so I studied Sociology & Criminology and interned with the Prosecutor’s Office during college. After I graduated, I moved to San Diego right away to start my career in the legal world as a Paralegal.

I founded Be Organizing in November 2012.  We provide professional organizing and productivity services in people’s homes, business and digital life.  Our ultimate goal is to be your one-stop shop for all things organizing and productivity.  We believe there’s a better way to organizing people’s lives—focusing not only on the home, but specializing in digital and business organizing and productivity, including digital documents, CRM programs, photos, music, email, contacts, notes, calendar and more! Our mission is to reduce stress and save time in our clients’ lives so they can do what they love by creating an organized and harmonious physical and virtual space.

I am also a Co-Author of “It’s Not About the Food: Personal Stories and Inspiration from Health Coaches and Wellness Experts to Transform Your Weight Loss Mindset and Lose Weight Without a Diet” where I write about organizing and its relation to weight loss.  It’s not just about the food, it’s about so much more!

Why did you decide to pursue this field?

As a Paralegal, I worked with many different clients where I created an even deeper understanding of building systems, tracking and storing highly sensitive and private documents online and off. Clients would come to us that did not have their paperwork together and sometimes would not even know where certain important documents were located. So, a lot of my work was piecing things together, organizing information and documents.

Eventually, I decided that the law firm environment was no longer for me because I wanted to collaborate more with my clients and co-workers, have a flexible schedule and build a business. I then stumbled across a quote by Tony Gaskins, “If you don’t build your dream someone will hire you to help build theirs.” That is when I decided that I was going to start my own business to build my own dream.

At the time, I wasn’t sure what type of business I was going to start. Being the detail-oriented, organized person I am, I created a Pro/Con list of what I enjoyed doing and what I did not. I knew that I enjoyed and was good at creating systems and organizing information, documents and other things. I also knew that these processes are an important aspect of life in order to save time to do the things you love. While researching my business ideas online I came across the National Association of Productivity and Organizing Professionals (NAPO) and saw that clients were hiring for that type of service, so I decided to start my business in organizing homes, businesses and digital life. I also joined the local NAPO-San Diego Chapter and have been on the board ever since. I am currently the Chapter President.

After many pivots in my business, I have been able to grow and now have a team of organizers. We specialize in different areas and cover the entire county. It is so wonderful to be able to share our passion and help even more people.

What gets you going in the morning?

This is terrible to say, but I check my emails and read the daily newsletters that are sent out.  I am not a morning person at all so having a glimpse of what is going on in world is helpful and motivating for me to get my day started.

What does Peaceful Living mean to you?

Peaceful Living to me means doing the things that bring happiness, harmony and serenity.

What is the number one thing you wish for people to know about wellness?

That there are a lot of components that affect someone’s wellness. It’s not just the exercise, nutrition and taking care of your physical health that I think a lot of people associate wellness with.  It’s your mental health and how your surroundings can affect wellness too.

Do you have a guilty pleasure that is maybe not so “wellness-oriented?”

I am a huge fan of crime documentaries, crime-thriller and psychological shows and movies.  Not the CSI or Law & Order types of shows but all the ones on Netflix. More shows like Mindhunter, The Sinner and Making a Murderer.
