New Year’s Resolution Ideas That Don’t Focus on Weight Loss

At the end of every year, many people take the opportunity to make new goals so that we can become the very best version of ourselves. Of course, that’s an opportunity we can take on any regular day, but the lingering joy of the holidays combined with the freshness of January makes it an ideal time to decide who you want to be, and what goals can help you to get there.

Our Top 5 Tips for Peaceful Living

So often, New Year’s resolutions are centered around weight loss. Losing weight to feel better is a completely valid goal, but there are so many other great ways to reinvent ourselves, too. It’s important not to lose sight of wellness that goes far beyond the size of our waistline.

Here Are a Few of My Favorite Ideas for New Year’s Resolutions That Don’t Revolve Around Squeezing Into Smaller Jeans.

Resolve to Make Time for Self-Care, Even When Life Gets Busy

You might think about self-care often, but odds are you aren’t taking as much time for yourself as you would like and you should. Committing to self-care will give you an outlet to unwind, and it will help you to feel and be the best version of yourself. Even if your days are filled to the brim, resolve to get in at least a few minutes of you time each day and one hour per week.

Resolve to Get in Some Movement Each Day

When working from home, you have to work a little harder to get in exercise. This year, push yourself to find the opportunity for movement every day, even if it’s just a quick stroll through your neighborhood. Movement will give you a chance to refresh your mind and body, and you’ll feel so much better when it’s done. The best part? Movement can definitely count as your daily self-care!

Resolve to Speak More Kindly to Yourself

When you look in the mirror, what words come to mind? If your adjectives to describe yourself aren’t kind, now is the time to change that! This year, resolve to speak to yourself more kindly and give yourself more grace. Would you allow someone else to speak to you or a loved one in the way you speak to yourself? If not, resolve today to only use kind words to think about yourself.

Resolve to Practice Mindfulness

Practicing mindfulness extends to all parts of our lives, and it’s the ideal way to be more intentional about your eating habits, your actions, and your overall health. You can practice mindfulness by thinking intentionally about how you spend your time. Practicing mindfulness will help you know you’re soaking up every minute of 2021 and making the most of each day.

There are so many ways to transform ourselves in a positive way, so why make weight loss your biggest goal for the year? Focusing on your physical, mental, and emotional health will help you to reach all of your 2021 goals and feel your very best.
