WHY AN “ACTIONS TO IMPLEMENT” LIST CAN CHANGE YOUR LIFE

“Choosing what to pick up, after letting go, can at times be a journey in itself”

This quote really resonated with me this month. August is my birthday month, and I just recently celebrated my 29th birthday. That birthday where you are just one year shy of the realization that you will be a “real adult.”

My Birthday Routine

Each year on my birthday, I clean house.

What do I mean by “cleaning house”? I look at my life to see what isn’t helping me reach my purpose and full potential. This can be things, traits, or even people. After determining what meets this criteria, I let those parts of my life go. Sometimes though, in order to let go, you have to pick something else up.

What I Am About

I am all about self-improvement that is rooted in self-reflection, without the influences of others. I truly believe that I can be my own worst enemy, unless I make conscious decisions that support what I truly want out of life.

I want to live a life where when I am 80 years old, sitting in my rocking chair, and I have no regrets. I want to feel as though I truly lived MY LIFE on MY OWN TERMS.

This year, I decided to add an additional step to my usual cleaning house process. I normally just add to my blocked call list, and make promises internally. However, I realized that for several years now, I have promised myself that I would make better choices regarding my physical health.

I have missed this goal each year. Granted, I did begin seeing a nutritionist and I am now working with a trainer — BUUUUT, I could be doing more and staying consistent.

I tend to start strong with my goals, and then a little part of my brain says, “oh, you can take one day off!” Then one day turns into a week, and before I know it, I’ve stopped altogether.

This Year, I CHOOSE TO BE BETTER

I decided to name my yearly process “Actions to Implement.”

My Actions to Implement (or my A2I as I like to call it), are the things that I have decided to begin doing that are helping me feed into both my short-term and long-term goals. My A2I are not unchangeable, allowing me the flexibility to add or modify as needed. BUT the changes have to be directly correlated to a goal for myself.

My Top 5 Actions to Implement for My 29th Year of Life Are:

  1. Make healthier eating choices
    • No more ice cream…I have an addiction and I am well aware 🙂
    • Drink only water during the weekdays…I purchased a bright pink gallon jug from Amazon that I literally carry with me EVERYWHERE.
  1. Watch a motivational sermon or speaker each day
    • YouTube is my go-to!
    • Seriously — 15-30 minutes of a good speech will work wonders for you mentally and physically.
  1. Journals and planners
    • Writing my thoughts and emotions down, regardless of what I feel or what transpired that day, has helped me tremendously in centering my soul.
    • I went out and bought a planner for each level

      2. Health and exercise
      3. School and day-to-day

  1. Being thankful & writing it down
    • I am so blessed and thankful for my life, so I decided that each day in my A2I planner, I will write down what I am thankful for…people, things, places — no stipulations.
    • When I am having a tough day in the future, I can reflect on my gratitude lists for comfort and positivity.
  1. Show appreciation to others each day
    • Using my A2I journal, I will list everyone I delivered a word of appreciation to each day.
  1. Meditation and yoga
    • As if I needed an excuse, I purchased a really nice yoga mat to help motivate me to begin my yoga and meditation journey.
    • My goal is to begin each day with meditation (usually after a gym workout), and end each day with yoga.

5 Steps to Develop Your Actions to Implement

  1. Start with deep self-reflection time:
    • Each year, I take time before my birthday to think and self-reflect. Some years, I do this the day before. This year, it was 5 days before my birthday. Any time that works best for you is fine!
    • Meditation is a great way to center your mind, and develop the mentality needed to find what feeds your soul.
  1. Think about your short-term and long-term goals and how they align and differ
    • Decide how short-term goals can help you achieve your long-term goals. For example, you might set a goal to workout every day for one month to start working toward a major weight loss goal.
    • Creating A2I that will help you achieve the SMALL WINS will eventually lead you to BIG WINS.
  1. Be realistic and truthful about where you currently are in life
    • If one of your A2I is something that you have been telling yourself you have been “doing better” for years, explore why you haven’t yet accomplished the action.
    • MY TRUTH: For about 6 years, I have been on and off with eating healthier and exercising. I have lost weight and then gained it back. In the process, I have been telling myself that I am “doing better.” For 6 years, I have NEEDED TO DO BETTER FOR MYSELF.
  1. Don’t look back
    • Yes, you could have done better last year…but today is TODAY!
    • Focus on the action and implement it today.
    • Give yourself a fresh start from this moment forward.
  1. Own the action and fight to maintain it for the duration needed to implement it as a permanent practice in your life

I know this isn’t my normal travel focused talk, but it is important to me that you understand the mindset that I have. Everything in my life is connected in some way, because I CHOOSE what I allow into my presence.

You have a choice. USE IT! This brings me to my final points:

  1. Implement actions that MAKE YOU HAPPY.
  2. Pick actions that MAKE YOUR SOUL SHINE BRIGHT FROM THE INSIDE OUT.
  3. Choose actions that WILL HELP YOU BECOME THE PERSON YOU CHOOSE TO BE.
  4. You are STRONG, POWERFUL, KIND, and SO VERY WORTHY…so do not hesitate to implement actions that will fuel your MIND, BODY AND SOUL—short-term and long-term.
  5. YOU GOT THIS!!

Always a pleasure….

Your travel friend,

Tre’

My name is Chantre’ (Tre’ for short). I am a military brat and soon to be a military wife. I have two fur babies; a Rottweiler named Duke and a German Shepperd named Aurora. I am a travel agent that specializes in EVERYTHING!…mostly fun quick trips or international trip for me personally, but I love researching for every client as if I am traveling with them.

Traveling is where my passion lies. Being in school my whole life, I am at the point where I am now settled and ready to begin my journey to explore the WORLD as much as possible. I have a yearning to see new things and cities, and experience other beliefs and cultures. As a young woman, it can be difficult to find other women that are in the same mindset as I am, and who are ready to take this journey with me in this season of my life…this is why I started my @tres_travelexperiences business and blog. I want to be able to share my experiences with others who share my passion for travel, but are being held back. Experience traveling through my journey.

I am passionate about being able to connect with other women no matter age or background, that are seeking travel experiences as I am, and just need someone to travel with like me. Prior to meeting my love, I was fully prepared and had literally booked a 15 days trip to Europe…SOLO. The amount of courage it took, I cannot even describe but I am thankful to God that He settled my mind, heart, and soul to take the leap. I know every woman may not want to do the same, so I am more than happy to plan a trip for others, whether big or small, solo or group.

If you have an urge to travel, but no one to travel with …come join me on one of my upcoming trips! On my Facebook page, you will find events where you can register for upcoming trips that I have planned which are open for you to join us. You will also find travel deals that I have created, but can be customized for your specific needs. Some of my trips will be very kid-friendly due to my current auntie role, so please reach out and connect with me in the links below. Feel free to contact me for a chat about what your specific needs are and I will be more than happy to have a chat with you!
